With salaries at $3.3 million and rising, clinical psychologists have become the top earners in America, but with a few big changes in the workplace.
With some changes in how we pay our professional psychologists, and more of an emphasis on education and skill development, the pay of a clinical psychologist is expected to rise to $4 million or more by 2020.
The median annual salary for a clinical psychology associate is $3 million.
But what is that pay for?
The median income for a clinician in America is $45,000 per year.
But that’s just for the average person.
For some, that income may not even be enough to get by.
What does that mean for you?
To get a better understanding of how the median income is for psychologists, we took a look at the median pay for practicing clinicians in the U.S. and compared it to the average salaries for other professions.
First, let’s look at average salaries across the profession.
The chart below shows the median salaries across all professional psychology fields.
As you can see, the field of psychology is quite diverse, with different occupations earning significantly different amounts of money.
Some professions pay a little less, and some pay a lot more.
What’s more, the average salary for psychologists is expected only to rise from about $3 to $5 million by 2020, depending on the profession in question.
So if you want to make sure that you’re getting the best pay possible, it’s important to pay attention to what your pay is likely to be.
What Does the Median Salary for a Clinical Psychologist Look Like?
When we talk about the median salary for clinicians, we’re mainly looking at the salary for one year, which is typically the beginning of a career.
It doesn’t take much to understand that, in practice, the median is probably much higher.
For example, let us take a look how much a clinist is expected at age 40.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national average salary of a clinicoin is about $42,000.
That is, the highest earning clinician is expected by the Bureau to earn more than the median clinician of the same age.
The average salary in the United States is $43,000 for a bachelor’s degree, and $41,000 is the median in the country.
If we also look at a clinical clinician’s salary, we can see that the median wage is expected about $49,000, or the highest paid clinician.
So how does that compare to the median for other occupations?
For example: What do the median annual salaries of nurses, doctors, and pharmacists look like?
The Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that in 2019, nurses earned $47,000 a year.
That’s the highest of any profession.
According the Bureau, pharmacists earned about $37,000 annually.
The same year, doctors earned about the same amount, about $38,000; and nurses earned about what we expect a physician to earn.
For clinical psychologists and other professions, the annual median salary is expected for a child psychiatrist to be about $20,000 and for a nurse practitioner to be at least $26,000 by 2020 with some raises for higher-paying specialty occupations.
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) publishes the following average salary figures for clinical psychologists in the profession, with the median starting salary at $19,000: Clinical psychologists are also expected to have a median salary of $31,400.
And that’s about where we end up.
We’re looking at a median income of $34,500 by 2020 for clinical psychology.
So, to put that into perspective, the $3 billion increase in the median compensation for clinical psychological associates by 2020 means that a clinicker in 2020 is likely earning more than a child psychologist, a child social worker, or a child psychiatric nurse.
Are You Being Paid Enough?
As mentioned, the Bureau has an annual average salary that’s based on an average salary reported in a national survey of adults.
The Bureau also publishes a survey on average annual salary levels for the entire profession, and the average income for the profession as a whole is based on the American Society of Clinical and Continuing Medical Illustrators survey.
The survey also has median pay ranges that range from $35,000 to $70,000 across the entire workforce.
The American Psychological Association’s Bureau of Psychological Sciences says that clinical psychologists will earn an average of $45.00 per hour by 2020 and $51.00 by 2027, and that the average hourly wage for clinicians is expected as high as $55.00.
What About Your Pay?
To find out what your hourly pay is expected, we asked the Bureau what their average salary is for each job category.
The pay range for a psychologist ranges from $41 to $74.00, and for other professionals, the range is from $42 to $73.00 annually.
So you can use that as
