Psychology graduate students: Where do you want to be?
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) The field of psychology is being reshaped by a wave of graduates who are looking for a new job, but many are also finding themselves on the road, a few months away from graduating.
A growing number of graduates are heading out west to explore careers in psychology or public health, and there are indications that a number of states are considering new regulations.
Here are a few of the latest developments:Michigan is set to consider a law this summer to regulate where psychologists can work.
A law is not yet in place, but state Attorney General Bill Schuette is planning to sue the state if it goes forward.
A judge in that lawsuit could decide this summer whether Michigan can enforce the law or not.
The law is aimed at preventing psychologists from being able to work in public hospitals and other institutions that are not licensed by the state.
It is not currently required.
